Brody Wilkinson guides Chinese Ministry of Health in opening a U.S. subsidiary in Connecticut

The law firm of Brody Wilkinson PC is pleased to announce its representation of the Chinese Ministry of Health in opening a publishing division in Shelton, Connecticut. Based at Enterprise Corporate Towers, PMPH USA, Ltd., is a newly created U.S. subsidiary of People’s Medical Publishing House, a Chinese government entity which is the largest medical publisher in China. PMPH USA, Ltd. will focus on publishing new books and digital products in clinical medicine for the growing global market. All new titles will be published in both English and Chinese.
Brody Wilkinson principals Barbara S. Miller and Seth L. Cooper handled the acquisition of a select, broad-based list of medical publications from a prominent medical publishing company in Canada on behalf of PMPH USA, Ltd. The acquisition gives the new subsidiary an immediate presence in the market. In addition, Barbara and Seth handled the corporate organizational work and commercial office lease. The transaction closed in late July in a signing ceremony in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, China, underscoring the significance of this new American business venture.

Ms. Miller and Mr. Cooper worked closely with Martin Wonsiewicz, president of PMPH USA, Ltd., to complete this transaction. Martin Wonsiewicz stated, “Barbara and Seth, along with our consultant, Eric Newman, have been wonderful partners in this new enterprise and were instrumental in putting together a fairly complicated deal in a relatively short amount of time. In addition, Seth and Barbara have a real excitement for what we are doing which is to disseminate medical content two ways (from the U.S. to China and then from China back to the U.S and on to other countries) and hopefully make a positive impact on patient care.”
