Peter T. Mott, a principal of Brody Wilkinson PC, was recently appointed chair of the Estates and Probate Section of the Connecticut Bar Association for a two-year term. The Section, comprising approximately 1,000 members, focuses on legal issues and developments related to wills, estates, trusts, guardianship, conservatorship, property interest of spouses, transfers of property, powers of attorney, living wills, and the impact of Connecticut gift, inheritance, estate and income taxes.
Mr. Mott practices in the areas of estate planning and trusts and estate administration. He assists individuals with tax and charitable gift planning, business owners with succession planning, and families planning for aging or incapacitated family members.
Mr. Mott has practiced in the Greater Bridgeport area since 1983 and is a member of the American and Connecticut Bar Associations. Mr. Mott is a Fellow in the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC), the leading national organization of practitioners, and is a member of its Professional Responsibility Committee. In addition, he was selected in 2009 for inclusion in “The Best Lawyers in America” and “Connecticut Super Lawyers” both of which are based on peer-review surveys.
Mr. Mott received his B.A. from Trinity College (Hartford) in 1978 and his J.D. with high honors from the University of Connecticut Law School in 1983, where he was an editor of the Connecticut Law Review. He has been involved in numerous civic activities over the years, including currently serving on the Boards of the Fairfield County Community Foundation and the Council of Churches of Greater Bridgeport.
